At the International Paris Air Show, Governor Rick Scott announced Embraer will construct a new building in the Spaceport Commerce Park in Titusville, Florida. The project, known locally as Project Eagle during the site selection process, will bring 150 new jobs to the area; with an average wage of $48,000 annually.
“Embraer’s footprint in Florida continues to grow and we are excited to announce this additional investment and creation of new jobs in our state,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. “By removing the sales tax on manufacturing equipment last year, we are signaling to businesses across the world that Florida has a competitive advantage over other locations, and companies like Embraer know that our state is the best place to grow and create jobs. We are here in Paris today to share our success with companies from across the world, and we will continue to do all we can to make Florida the global destination for jobs.”
“We are very pleased that Embraer chose to locate this facility in North Brevard and within the county-owned Spaceport Commerce Park in Titusville specifically,” said District 1 Commissioner Robin Fisher. “Through the combined efforts of the Economic Development Commission, the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ), and the City of Titusville we were able to land this deal in a competitive market. We now look forward to the creation of good-paying jobs for the area.”
Embraer acquired a California–based company which will operate as Embraer Aero Seating Technologies. The new facility will produce seating solutions for various Embraer products.
“The new Embraer Aero Seating Technologies is focused on the design, development and production of luxury aircraft seating solutions,” said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer president & CEO. “With the support of Enterprise Florida, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Brevard County, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast and the North Brevard Economic Development Zone (NBEDZ), we are proud to grow this operation to include the great state of Florida.”
Last month, the NBEDZ voted to award “Project Eagle” $2,500,000 to offset the costs of constructing the new facility in Titusville, along with the provision of a suitably-sized county-owned lot in the park (approximating 15 acres) cleared and prepped for construction. “The availability of the incentives from NBEDZ were a significant factor in winning this competitive project,” stated George Mikitarian, NBEDZ Board Chairman. “The impact from this project will be seen in both North Brevard and throughout the County.”
“The EDC worked closely with the NBEDZ in the development of a competitive proposal. The use of incentives from the Zone did exactly what they were designed to do; enable North Brevard to not only attract, but win a project of this caliber.” said Lynda Weatherman, president & CEO of the EDC.
