AZ: Santander Consumer USA to Bring 970 Jobs to Mesa’s Fiesta District

Nov 03, 2015

Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc., a consumer finance company focused on vehicle finance, third-party servicing and delivering superior service to more than 2.5 million customers across the full credit spectrum, announced it will expand its operations to the Centrica project at 1550 W. Southern Ave. in Mesa’s Fiesta District.

“We welcome Santander Consumer USA to Mesa’s Fiesta District,” Mayor John Giles said. “This neighborhood is experiencing a renaissance with new housing, new jobs and growing education and healthcare industries. Santander Consumer USA’s addition of nearly a thousand new jobs is a big deal.”

Santander Consumer USA is new to the Phoenix market and will lease the entire 117,000 sq. ft. Centrica project. Santander will employ more than 970 people over three years with an average wage of approximately $51,000.

“Centrica in the Fiesta District has undergone a dramatic transformation from a vacant retail center into the new home of Santander Consumer USA. This is exactly what our vision for the Fiesta District looks like, dynamic re-use and revitalization,” Vice Mayor Dennis Kavanaugh said. “We are thrilled to have Santander Consumer USA in our community and we wish them great success moving forward.”

The company expects to occupy the building January 2016.

“We are excited to expand our corporate footprint to the Mesa, Arizona, Fiesta District,” said Brad Martin, SC’s chief operating officer. “Santander Consumer USA looks forward to bringing new jobs to the area, and earning the trust and respect of the community.”

The company has a serviced finance portfolio of approximately $52 billion (as of September 30, 2015), and services loans for more than 2.5 million customers. The company began lending in 1997 and is headquartered in Dallas. (www.santanderconsumerusa.com)

“We are pleased that Santander Consumer USA chose Centrica,” Phoenix Rising Investments, LLC Principal and Centrica owner, Michael Hsiung said. “The area’s walkability, mass transit access, abundant freeway accessibility, redundant fiber network, and proximity to a workforce of more than 1.7 million people within a 30-minute drive, make it an ideal location for high-tech and multi-national companies such as Santander Consumer USA.”

Additional partners, including the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, worked with the City to support and facilitate a Mesa location for Santander Consumer USA’s new office facility.
