SC: New Esurance Greenville County Office to Create 450 New Jobs

Feb 24, 2014

Another Fortune 100 Company is coming to Greenville, South Carolina, and bringing with it at least 450 new jobs.

Esurance, the nation’s largest publicly held personal lines insurer, will open a new sales and claims office in Greenville County. The $2.1 million investment is expected to create up to 450 jobs in the area, according to company executives and officials with the Greenville Area Development Corporation.

The Greenville office will be the fifth Esurance sales office in the country, joining Esurance sales locations in Sacramento, Sioux Falls, Tampa and Phoenix. The office will open in the summer of 2014. Since being acquired by Allstate in October 2011, the company has nearly doubled in size, with more than 3,000 employees across 16 offices nationwide.

Esurance provides consumers an alternative for personal insurance needs in 41 states and offers a more expansive product portfolio than other direct insurance providers, including auto, motorcycle, homeowners, and renters coverage. Since being acquired by Allstate in October 2011, the company has nearly doubled in size, with more than 3,000 employees across 16 offices nationwide.  This will be Esurance’s first major presence in the Palmetto State.

“Esurance has chosen to come across the country to South Carolina for one reason: our people. South Carolina routinely delivers quality customer service, and we are ecstatic that a company like Esurance has taken notice. We applaud their decision to invest $2.1 million and create 450 new jobs,” said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Esurance has won multiple “best place to work” awards in recent years and will begin actively looking for South Carolinians to fill job openings that include inside sales positions that offer an average annual base salary of $50,000, plus additional performance incentives – well above South Carolina and Greenville County averages.  Highly competitive and comprehensive benefit packages are also included for associates.  The company will also be seeking associates to fill a variety of claims roles, including first-notice-of-loss associates and express and material damage adjusters.

"We are excited to welcome Esurance and the 450 jobs they are creating to the Upstate. When I think about our workforce in South Carolina, I think of highly-qualified, hardworking individuals, and I know the people of Greenville will welcome this great news with open arms,” added Senator Tim Scott, who was instrumental in recruiting Esurance to the Upstate.

With easy-to-use mobile apps, instant comparison quotes, and online repair monitoring, Esurance is an alternative for today’s web-savvy consumer. As a member of the Allstate family with an A+ rating from A.M. Best, Esurance is renowned for its anytime, anywhere service being “just a click, call, or tap away.”

“To watch as our state has accumulated more than $1.1 billion in capital investment and 10,600 jobs in the service industry since 2011 is the truest testament to our southern hospitality. We welcome Esurance to South Carolina with open arms and we appreciate their commitment to invest in our state,” noted Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

“Esurance’s decision to locate here is a direct result of several key factors including having national caliber talent here to draw from, an attractive and diverse community to draw outside talent to, and the presence of superb Class A office space appropriate for the organization’s needs at the ready,” said Dr. Bob Taylor, Board Member of the Greenville Area Development Corporation and Chairman of Greenville County Council. “We celebrate their addition as the newest member of Greenville County’s growing business community.”
