Governor Rick Scott announced that dtw Marketing Research Group, Inc., a marketing research company specializing in pharmaceuticals and based in New Jersey, will relocate its corporate headquarters to Amelia Island. The relocation will result in 40 new jobs and $2.1 million in total capital investment over the next two years.
Governor Scott said, “The jobs being created by dtw Marketing Research Group will provide great opportunities for Florida families. We are continuing to reduce burdensome regulations and restrictions, and will not stop until Florida has the best business climate in the nation. With more and more companies relocating their corporate headquarters to Florida, we can see – it’s working.”
dtw will hire a range of positions including managerial, sales management and information technology, along with hourly flex-time positions. dtw expects to begin hiring for its new positions in the early Fall.
“We spent much of 2012 investigating new corporate locations,” said Pamela Statile, President, of dtw Marketing Research Group. “We were looking for business friendly states to move to, unlike that atmosphere in the Northeast. With a combination of the lifestyle here in Nassau County, the tax friendly environment and the reasonable cost of living, the choice became a simple one.”
Over the past decade Florida has established itself as a leading location for life sciences innovation and industry growth. Florida is now home to the 2nd-fastest growing biotech industry in the United States.
“Enterprise Florida remains committed to enhancing Florida’s life sciences sector by actively recruiting companies like dtw,” said Secretary of Commerce and President & CEO of Enterprise Florida Gray Swoope. “The state has emerged as a leader in the life sciences industry, and our skilled workforce and business-friendly climate are a perfect fit for dtw.”
Steve Rieck, Executive Director of the Nassau County Economic Development Board said, “We’re delighted that dtw has made its decision to locate here. These new jobs will add to the growing diversity of job opportunities for Nassau Countians and residents of Northeast Florida.”
Along with Enterprise Florida, Inc., the Nassau County Economic Development Board worked hand-in-hand with dtw to make this move possible. The construction of their new office, which will be completed in December, will provide local construction employment along with $1.5 million in capital investiture.
The region’s unemployment continues to decline demonstrating that job creation and economic development efforts are working. According to data from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Jacksonville MSA, consisting of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties, experienced an unemployment rate drop of 4 percent from the December 2010 rate of 10.3 percent. In addition to the drop in its unemployment rate, the Jacksonville MSA ranked second in the state for gains in total nonagricultural employment over the year with an increase of 16,500 jobs.
“Florida’s health services industry is just one of eight industries experiencing positive job growth due to Governor Scott’s commitment to getting Floridians back to work,” said Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Executive Director Jesse Panuccio. “dtw Marketing Research Group’s plan to invest in our economy and our workforce is great news for Florida families and our growing economy.”
