Apr 25, 2014

Gov. Nathan Deal announced that Aalto Scientific, a leading manufacturer in the medical diagnostics industry, will create 80 jobs and invest $9 million into a new manufacturing facility in Eatonton.

“Aalto Scientific’s expansion in Georgia demonstrates the strength and vitality of our life sciences sector,” said Deal. "Manufacturing is a key element in this industry and in maintaining Georgia as the No. 1 state in which to do business. This project shows our continued commitment to the companies and workforce that call our state home and I am proud that Aalto Scientific chose to locate here.”

The planned construction will be the first project to locate to Rock Eagle Technology Park, a 150-acre development park located at 1100 Madison Road. Aalto Scientific will construct a 76,000-square-foot production and warehouse facility, as well as a 15,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to house its subsidiary, AUDIT® MicroControlstm, Inc.

“We are moving our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility to Georgia in order to grow our business,” said Steve Mauro, owner of Aalto Scientific.

Aalto Scientific joins more than 400 life science companies that are already operating in Georgia. Jennifer Nelson, GDEcD Director of EIRR (Existing Industry and Regional Recruitment) and Carol Henderson, GDEcD Director of Health Sciences, Technology, Corporate Solutions, New Media, R&D and IT, worked with the Putnam Development Authority to assist the company in locating to Eatonton.

“We are very excited that Aalto Scientific has chosen Eatonton-Putnam County as the location to build its new corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility," said Bill Sharp, chairman of the Putnam Development Authority. “We hope Aalto Scientific is just the first of many companies to locate in the Rock Eagle Technology Park.”

“Aalto Scientific’s new manufacturing facility underscores the strength of Georgia’s health and life sciences sector,” said Carr. “Georgia’s cold chain storage and logistics infrastructure is calling the attention of innovative companies such as Aalto Scientific and there is no question that this company will find a qualified workforce and eager community in Putnam County.”
