TN: Agilent Technologies to Expand Logistics Ops, Create 100 Memphis Jobs

Dec 15, 2017

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Agilent Technologies’ officials announced that the company will expand its logistics operations in Shelby County. The life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemicals company will invest $600,000 and create approximately 100 new jobs in Memphis.

“I want to thank Agilent for choosing to expand its logistics operations in Memphis,” Haslam said. “Agilent’s commitment to create more than 100 new jobs in Shelby County showcases how important Tennessee’s business-friendly climate and ready-to-work workforce are to companies looking to locate operations in our state. I appreciate Agilent for helping us get one step closer to reaching our goal of making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

“I appreciate Agilent’s decision to expand its presence in Shelby County,” Rolfe said. “One of Tennessee’s main goals is to create more high-skilled jobs in our state and I want to thank Agilent for creating 100 new high-quality jobs in Shelby County. I look forward to seeing the company’s continued success in Tennessee.”

Agilent is a global leader in the life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemicals markets. The company provides laboratories with instruments, software, services, consumables, and applications focused in six key areas: food, environmental and forensics, pharmaceutical, diagnostics and clinical, chemicals and energy, and academia and research. Agilent is headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif. and currently employs approximately 13,500 employees worldwide.

“We are excited to expand our presence in Memphis,” said Henrik Ancher-Jensen, president of Agilent Order Fulfillment and Supply Chain. “We appreciate the warm welcome and collaboration demonstrated by state and local partners to help Agilent build up this facility, which is vital to delivering to our customers in the Americas.”

Agilent’s Memphis facility will function as the company’s primary American distribution center. A critical connection within its global supply chain, Agilent will handle the distribution functions of the company in house. The facility will serve markets in the U.S., Mexico, Canada and Central America.

Local officials thanked Agilent for its investment and new jobs in Shelby County.

“Memphis is a growing economy with momentum – thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars of investment just in the past couple of years,” Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said. “It’s obvious that more and more companies are seeing this and wanting to be part of our momentum and our authentic culture.”

“This is another indication that Shelby County continues to be a sought-after location for new businesses and industries,” Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr. said. “We appreciate the commitment of Agilent Technologies to bring more than 100 new jobs to our community. Economic growth continues to be one of our top priorities.”

“Memphis’ robust advanced manufacturing industry continues to attract and retain great companies like Agilent Technologies. We look forward to welcoming Agilent’s 100 new jobs to Memphis,” Phil Trenary, president & CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber, said.
