Plans to construct an 18,000-square-foot Cancer Center, at the corner of Milwaukee Road and Lee Lane, were announced by the Beloit Health System. This $11.6 million investment represents a consolidation, as well as an integration, of two separate but related cancer treatment facilities. This new facility will be affiliated with UW Health, which is a relationship that the Beloit Health System has maintained since 1985.
The Center will be equipped with a new, state of the art, linear accelerator. This new accelerator will enable pinpoint radiation treatment; thereby, reducing the overall amount of patient radiation exposure. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2013, with a December 2013 opening date. While the Center was designed by Plunkett Raysich Architects, construction services remain TBD.
The Beloit Health System offers comprehensive and distinctive services through a delivery system that places equal emphasis on those who receive - as well as those that provide - health care. In addition to their extensive portfolio of services, the Beloit Health System is recognized for its Heart & Vascular Center. The Beloit Health System is fully accredited by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the national predominant standards and accrediting body in healthcare.
According to James Otterstein, Rock County Economic Development Manager, "The health care industry remains a strong economic engine for the Janesville-Beloit MSA."
