Aug 16, 2018

With a new $80 million expansion to its existing Gadsden Complex, Koch Foods will operate one of the largest poultry processing plants in the United States. The City of Gadsden’s Economic Development team and Gadsden Industrial Development Authority partnered with Koch to bring this significant expansion that adds 30% to their production capacity.

The economic impact of Koch Foods’ expansion will be immediate and drastic, with construction starting this month. The expansion will add 200 new jobs, with 100 in the first year.

Etowah County will directly benefit $214,000 through sales and use tax during construction of the facility. In addition to the many new good jobs, the local community will receive a boost through the $4.8 million payroll of the facility that will turn over in the local economy, several times. Education will receive the most significant impact with the State, County, and City schools systems receiving $4 Million over ten years. The City of Gadsden will receive $1 Million over ten years.

The Koch Foods Plant expansion is a great benefit to the residents of Gadsden and Etowah County. This investment in industrial development is possible through the relationships of the Koch Foods team, the Industrial Development Authority, and the City of Gadsden. Mayor Sherman Guyton would like to thank Gov. Iveyand her administration for their support of this project.
