PA: Tyson Foods to Invest $60M, Expand Facility, Create 114 Jobs

Oct 30, 2017

Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin praised the expansion of the Tyson Foods facility in East Pottsville as members of the Governor’s Action Team joined company executives and local leaders for a groundbreaking celebration of the new expansion this morning.

“Tyson Foods has been a major contributor to the Pottsville-area economy for years through this facility, and this expansion only adds to their local impact,” Secretary Davin said. “As Governor Wolf continues to improve the business climate in Pennsylvania, we’re seeing more and more companies relocate or expand here – and when they do, it’s a win-win for both the company and the community.”

Tyson Foods plans to add 164,000 square feet to its existing 182,000 square-foot-facility in East Pottsville. Supported by DCED, the nearly $60 million project was announced by Governor Wolf in July and is expected to create 114 new jobs over the next three years.

“This expansion will allow us to better service our customers, and ship our complete portfolio of protein-packed brands from one distribution center,” said Gregg Uecker, senior vice president of network planning and integration at Tyson Foods. “New technology will also improve team member safety, while reducing our carbon footprint. We thank the Department of Community and Economic Development for their help on this project, and continued support of our efforts to grow in the community.”
