Nestlé Waters North America, the nation's leading bottled water company, plans to build a $40 million, two-line water bottling facility in Chesterfield County near McBee, S.C. The approximately 200,000 square-foot facility will produce bottled spring water under the company's Deer Park® brand and bottled purified water under the Nestlé Pure Life® brand for distribution to customers primarily in the Southeastern United States. The facility is anticipated to open in early 2016 and is expected to create at least 40 new jobs that will pay competitive wages and offer a comprehensive array of benefits.
According to an economic impact study conducted by independent economists with Miley and Associates, Inc., the bottling plant will positively impact the local economy by approximately $40 million per year once the facility is operational. This $40 million impact takes into consideration economic factors such as payrolls for direct and indirect jobs, increased spending in the community by employees, and inter-industry spending.
Almost $400,000 in property taxes is expected to be generated annually for the local government and school district. In addition to the employees directly employed at the bottling facility, the plant is expected to support another 40 to 50 jobs indirectly.
Nestlé Waters North America has a strong track record of hiring locally. The hiring process is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2015. Specific job openings and how to apply for positions will be provided to the community as the information becomes available.
