McLane Dothan, part of the grocery division of McLane Co., announced the Houston County Commission approved agreements to support an expansion that will create 50 jobs.
“Investing in the communities in which we operate is integral to our success, so we we’re thrilled to hear that support of our expansion in the Houston County Distribution Park was approved,” said Mike Price, president of McLane Dothan. “We look forward to growing our footprint within the park as well as creating more jobs, much like we’ve done the past 17 years.”
Opening in October 1999, McLane Dothan was the first employer and grocery distributor in the distribution park. Servicing customers in Alabama, the Florida Panhandle and the southern half of Georgia, the McLane division employs 300 workers in the tri-state area.
The expansion project involves adding extra building space and equipment to support continued growth in its Southeastern footprint.
“Today is another exciting day in the history of the Houston County Distribution Park and our efforts to spur economic development progress within our region,” said Houston County Commission Chair Mark Culver. “We are pleased to support McLane Dothan’s expansion at our AdvantageSite Houston County Distribution Park that will involve a $17 million investment and add another 50 jobs.
“We appreciate McLane’s investment in our community and are pleased to support this major expansion,” he added. “Additionally, we thank the Alabama Department of Commerce/AIDT, our Commission, the City of Dothan, and Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce for their work and support on this investment.”
Chamber President Matt Parker told the Dothan Eagle the pay for the new jobs will average around $42,000 a year.
