PA: Pet Food, Supply Distributor to Expand, Add 60 Jobs in Lancaster County

Jan 03, 2014

Governor Tom Corbett announced that Pet Food Experts, Inc., pet industry distributor, will construct a new facility in Lancaster County to create approximately 60 new jobs and retain 60 positions. The company’s project was made possible by a low-interest loan approved by the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority.

"Pet Food Experts will double its workforce in Lancaster County once their expansion is complete,” Corbett said. “We will continue seeking opportunities to partner with companies like Pet Food Experts to create family sustaining jobs throughout Pennsylvania.”

Pet Food Experts, Inc., a distributor of pet food and supplies to independent retailers, will construct a 197,000-square-foot facility in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County. The new facility will be 18 miles away from its current operations. The company will invest more than $12 million in the project that is expected to create 60 new positions and retain 60 existing employees.

The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) will provide a $2,000,000, 15-year, low-interest loan at 2.5 percent to the York County Economic Development Corporation on behalf of Pet Food Experts, Inc.

PIDA is an independent authority staffed and regulated through the Department of Community and Economic Development. The Authority provides capital for building acquisition, construction and renovation work, primarily for manufacturers, industrial developers, research and development firms, agricultural processors and employers looking to establish national or regional headquarters in Pennsylvania. In 2013, PIDA has approved $60.7 million in low-interest loans that have resulted in $131.1 million in private investment and supported 10,476 jobs.
