SC: LeanCor Supply Chain Group to Locate Corporate Functions in Dorchester County, SC

May 08, 2012

LeanCor Supply Chain Group, a Kentucky-based Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider, announced plans today to locate portions of their corporate functions in Dorchester County. The Lean Logistics firm will lease space located on West Richardson Avenue in Historic Downtown Summerville. The company expects to create 10 new jobs within the first year, and anticipates additional positions as the Dorchester County branch grows.

Company officials pinpoint the County’s unique quality of life and proximity to existing regional industries as a deciding factor in positioning their firm in the heart of the Lowcountry. Robert Martichenko, LeanCor founder and CEO, adds, “My family and I feel we are at home in Summerville. When we moved here three years ago it was quite illogical considering our business is in Kentucky. I was coming clean on a promise I made to my wife, Corinne, many years ago that some day we would live by the coast. We’ve moved a lot over the years, and it feels good to finally be planted in a place like Summerville to truly become part of an amazing community. My two daughters are fully engaged at Pinewood Prep and love riding at Middleton Stables. I can honestly say I feel at home for the first time in decades. It just seems logical now to move a portion of LeanCor’s sales and marketing and consulting teams to Summerville so I can work more closely with my team members.”

Unlike other third party logistics providers, LeanCor offers a unique combination of training and education, hands-on consulting, and outsourced logistics services. This integrated portfolio of services helps organizations eliminate waste, drive down costs, and instill a problem-solving culture across their supply chain. LeanCor’s unwavering approach of applying lean principles to the supply chain management process has yielded benefits for its customers, which include many fortune 500 companies who are embracing operational excellence to remain competitive. By using better techniques and focusing on network optimization and total cost of fulfillment, these organizations have achieved optimal supply chain visibility, control, and performance.

Since its inception, LeanCor has expanded to include more than 150 employees in the US, Canada, and China. The firm attributes this planned growth to its relentless focus on continuous improvement and delivered results.

“It is always an exciting time when a company chooses to do business in Dorchester County, but especially when that company plans to establish parts of their corporate functions here. This announcement is further proof that the decisions we are making today are the right ones for building a strong business climate for tomorrow,” said Larry Hargett, Dorchester County Council Chairman. “We are pleased to welcome LeanCor to our community.”

“On behalf of the residents of Summerville and my City Council, I welcome LeanCor to our community. We are delighted to have them as tenants in our City Hall Annex retail space. In this economic climate, I believe their expertise will be extremely valuable to small and large companies wanting to sharpen their competitive edge,” said Summerville Mayor Bill Collins.

Dorchester County Economic Development Director Jon Baggett added, “LeanCor’s decision to locate in Dorchester County demonstrates how attractive the community is to new businesses. Not only does the County offer a favorable business environment, but our quality of life is second to none. We look forward to LeanCor’s success here in Dorchester County.”

LeanCor anticipates their Dorchester County operations will be open by the second quarter of 2012. To learn more about LeanCor, please visit their website at www.leancor.com or contact Erika Kauffeld, Director of Sales and Marketing, at (859) 283-7597.
