McKesson Medical-Surgical Inc., a leading distributor of medical supplies, plans to establish a new distribution facility in York County. The company will invest $27.5 million in the new facility, which is scheduled to open during the first half of 2015. The company expects to bring more than 140 jobs to the area.
Responding to significant business growth, McKesson Medical-Surgical is locating to a 300,000-square-foot building in the Riverwalk Business Park in Rock Hill, S.C. There, the company will distribute medical and surgical supplies to physician offices, surgery centers, long-term care facilities and home care businesses in a regional service area that includes the Carolinas. The York County facility also has the flexibility to expand over time to meet the company's increasing distribution needs.
McKesson Corporation is currently ranked 14th on the Fortune 500 list, delivering medical supplies to hospitals, physicians and other medical facilities throughout the United States. McKesson's Medical-Surgical business, an affiliate of McKesson Corporation, delivers a comprehensive offering of more than 180,000 healthcare products, equipment and technology solutions to its nearly 200,000 customers nationwide.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and a $200,000 set aside grant for building construction related to the project.
