IN: Batesville Tool & Die Announces Expansion

Jun 24, 2010

Batesville Tool & Die, Inc. announced it will expand its operations here, creating 40 new jobs by 2013.

The global supplier of precision metal stamping components for the automotive, appliance and other industries plans to invest $9.7 million to purchase new equipment and add 25,000 square feet to its existing 250,000 square-foot facility.

"Indiana has an economic climate that encourages business growth and success and Batesville Tool & Die's expansion is the latest evidence," said Mitch Roob, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

With facilities in Batesville and Mexico, Batesville Tool & Die currently operates three shifts and plans to begin hiring additional manufacturing associates in late 2011 as the new equipment is phased in.

"Batesville Tool and Die has a long and successful history manufacturing in Indiana. We are excited about the opportunities to service the growing automotive and electrical vehicle industries that continue to locate here," said Jody Fledderman, president and chief executive officer of Batesville Tool & Die. "The addition of these large specialized machines will continue to allow us to separate ourselves from conventional metal stampers and allow us to offer more services to our customers at world class pricing and quality expectations. We appreciate the support and assistance from both local and state governments. It shows the commitment that has been made to growing manufacturing in Indiana."

The more than 30-year-old business serves customers including Honda, General Motors, General Electric and others.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Batesville Tool & Die, Inc. up to $200,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $75,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. The city of Batesville has approved additional property tax abatement.

"We are very happy about this expansion and job creation that will result in our community," said Mayor Rick Fledderman.  "Batesville Tool & Die is a great company that is able to do some things that many others can't in this economy and we are thrilled by the good news."
