Governor Steve Beshear joined local and company officials in Elkton to announce Glass Door Solutions LLC, a newly formed company, plans to lease a facility, create 110 new, full-time jobs and invest more than $3.5 million in the Commonwealth.

“The Commonwealth welcomes Glass Door Solutions, and we anticipate a bright future for this partnership, which is creating 110 new jobs and an investment of more than $3.5 million,” said Gov. Beshear. “This demonstrates the positive business climate in Elkton and Todd County, where a promising company is putting its confidence in the community and the workforce, which we know will provide a perfect fit for Glass Door Solutions.”

Glass Door Solutions will manufacture glass doors for display cases in grocery and convenience stores. The company plans to produce components consisting of glass doors, frame posts, LED lighting and shelves.

“What started as an idea between three business friends in the fall of 2012 has matured into a company called Glass Door Solutions,” said Glass Door Solutions CEO and Chief Financial Officer Michael Stewart. “Our direct management has more than 150 years of combined industry knowledge and experience, with four of our general managers being born and raised in Kentucky, so we’re proud to call the Commonwealth home and look forward to giving back to the community.”

To encourage the investment and job creation in Elkton, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $1.95 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

“I welcome Glass Door Solutions,” said Sen. Whitney Westerfield, of Hopkinsville. “Their decision to become a community partner is a testament to our hard-working people and great quality of life.”

“This is great news for Elkton and the surrounding region, and it further underscores the second-to-none reputation our manufacturing workforce has earned over the years,” said Rep. Martha Jane King, of Lewisburg. “I want to thank Glass Door Solutions for making this major investment. I also appreciate the hard work our local and state officials did to help make this possible.”

“We are thrilled that Glass Door Solutions has decided to locate its operations in Elkton,” stated Elkton Mayor Nancy Camp. “This is tremendous economic news for our region, especially for the families who will benefit from these new job opportunities. I applaud the many partners who worked diligently to make this happen.”
