SC: SafeRack Expanding, Investing $20M, Hiring 100 in Georgetown County

SafeRack, LLC, a leader in truck, railcar and industrial safety, is expanding its existing operations in Georgetown County. The company is investing $20 million in the project, which is expected to create 100 new jobs over the next five years. SafeRack is a division of SixAxis LLC, a holding company for 10 brands that encompass the fall protection, loading platform, sales resource planning and marketing industries.

Established in 2003 and headquartered in Andrews, S.C., SafeRack manufactures industrial safety products and provides turnkey services that improve worker safety and productivity in truck, railcar and industrial loading applications. In addition to its Andrews headquarters and manufacturing facility, the company also operates facilities in Sumter, S.C. and Broadstairs, England.

In an effort to better serve its growing customer base, SafeRack has decided to expand its Georgetown County footprint. The company will construct a 100,000-square-foot addition to its existing facility, which is located at 219 Safety Avenue in Andrews. Used for manufacturing, warehousing and sales, the new space is anticipated to be operational in 2017. Hiring for the new jobs is expected to begin in 2016. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $200,000 Set Aside grant to Georgetown County to assist with the cost of real property improvements, as well as job development credits related to the project.
