Seohan to Expand Production; Create 75 New Jobs

Aug 05, 2009

An Auburn plant’s recent announcement it would be adding 75 more jobs is welcome news and a sign of the city’s efforts, Economic Development Director Phillip Dunlap said.

Seohan Auto USA Corporation and Seohan-NTN Driveshaft USA Corporation will expand production at the facility they share in the Auburn Industrial Park, according to a statement released by the city Friday. The companies plan to hire 75 more employees in the next two years.

“We’re trying to make up for job losses,” Dunlap said. “We haven’t been as hard-hit as a lot of communities. One of the reasons is we’ve targeted and recruited small- to medium-sized companies.”

The Seohan Auburn facility, which makes axles and rear carrier assemblies for Hyundai and driveshaft assemblies for KIA, opened in June 2008.

The expansion news comes on the heels of Pace Industries’ announcement it would close its Auburn die-casting plant July 20, affecting 157 employees.
