TX: Sonoco to Invest $13.5M to Expand in Waco, Add Jobs

Aug 19, 2015

A facility of global packaging company Sonoco announced plans to expand its Waco, Texas location in 2015 with completion in early 2016. Sonoco will install a new rotary die-cut machine, slitter and rotogravure printing press, investing $13.5 million in equipment at the facility and will add an estimated 15 jobs to the area – a 27 percent increase to its employment base.

“The city of Waco has been home to Sonoco for nearly 10 years, and we’re excited to further invest in our facility here, which has been a part of the community since 1986,” said Rick Brzezinski, plant manager. “We greatly appreciate the city’s commitment to our company’s future and to our place in the community.”

“Sonoco has been a vital part of the McLennan County business community for a number of years,” said Judge Scott Felton, McLennan County Judge. “I am very pleased the Waco facility remains strong and these new investments and additions will ensure its strength continues in the future.”

“We are really glad to be wrapping this project up,” said Dale Fisseler, city of Waco manager. “They are a great company and we are lucky to have them in Waco.”
