Aug 18, 2014

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. (MEC) announced plans to open a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Atkins, VA.  The facility will feature over 148,000 square feet and include the latest high tech equipment to manufacture products for the nation’s leading blue chip original equipment manufacturers.

"We’re very excited about this expansion of our operations in Southwest Virginia,” said Robert Kamphuis, chairman, president and CEO of MEC.  “We have an excellent team of employee shareholders in Wytheville and this new facility in neighboring Atkins will allow us to continue to grow with our customers.  We’re making a significant investment and the state and local economic development groups played an important role in helping us reach our decision,” Kamphuis continued.

The company will host an open house at the new facility on Wednesday, December 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. eastern time.  The event will feature a ribbon cutting with local and state dignitaries along with representatives from MEC.  It will be open to members of the media.

“We’re excited to be able to showcase the new facility at the upcoming open house as we prepare to ramp up production,” said Frank Castanon, vice president of manufacturing – east coast operations for MEC.   “Our guests will have the opportunity to see the tremendous support and teamwork we receive locally, including from our employee shareholders and the local contractors that will be helping us prepare the facility for production,” he added.
