WI: Mercury Marine Holds Ribbon Cutting at $24M Fond du Lac Plant

Jan 18, 2017

Officials at Mercury Marine held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday morning for their new EDP paint plant in Fond du Lac. Mercury Marine President John Pfeifer says the $24 million 49,000 square foot plant is a state-of-the-art facility. He says the 4-stroke marine propulsion systems, such as those designed and built by Mercury, are seeing tremendous growth. He says the $730 million Mercury has invested in its Fond du Lac facility since 2008 will allow them to continue to meet the market’s needs. The company considered leaving Fond du Lac in 2009, but incentives from the state, county and city kept them from moving to Oklahoma. Part of those incentives included a $50 million loan from the County. County Executive Al Buechel says in hind sight it was the right investment to make. Mercury’s workforce has nearly doubled over the past seven years. Ground was broken for the new plant in the spring of 2015.
