Governor Tom Corbett announced that PGA, Inc., a processor of recycled plastics, will relocate its operations to an existing facility in White Haven, Luzerne County, and create 28 jobs.
"My administration is committed to creating an economic environment in Pennsylvania that empowers the private sector to grow and create jobs," Corbett said. "As a result of this commitment, 28 new jobs will be created in northeast Pennsylvania."
Needing additional space to grow, PGA identified a facility in White Haven to accommodate the expansion. The company will invest more than $600,000 in land and building acquisitions and development, building renovations, equipment purchases, and employee training.
The company will receive $56,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits from the Department of Community and Economic Development when the 28 new employees are hired. PGA has committed to creating at least 28 new jobs within three years and retaining its current 13 employees.
"Being born and raised in White Haven, I felt it important to stay home when identifying a location to expand our business," Paul Anthony, vice president of PGA said. "We've been operating here in town for the last four years, 90 percent of our employees are from this community, and it's our way of giving back. We're exciting and look forward to our next expansion."
The project was coordinated by the Governor's Action Team, or GAT, a group of economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania. GAT provides site selection assistance, coordinates the involvement of other state agencies as needed, and packages the appropriate economic development funding for the project.
PGA was formed in 2006 as a two-person operation providing brokering services to client companies to capitalize on the ever-growing market of plastics recycling. PGA has grown into a full-service recycler processor of plastics for resale as raw materials to manufacturers.
