AR: Sprint Opens Regional HQ in Little Rock, Adds 100 Jobs

May 02, 2016

Sprint, Governor Asa Hutchinson, Mayor Mark Stodola and the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce announced the wireless carrier recently opened a regional office in Little Rock, Arkansas, to serve as the South Central headquarters which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. As part of the expansion, Sprint plans to add approximately 100 new, full-time employees in Little Rock by the end of 2016.

Sprint currently has more than 230 company and dealer-owned stores across Arkansas, with 34 in Little Rock. Over the last three years, Sprint has spent more than $62 million on network enhancements in the state, which included voice and LTE optimization.

Jonathan Blitz, a Little Rock resident with extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, serves as Sprint’s president for the South Central region.

“Sprint is on a quest to win in this market, and our laser focus on localization now gives us the ability to tap into all of the talent right here in Little Rock, and throughout Arkansas,” said Blitz. “It also brings us closer to consumers with a goal of providing superior customer experience, an enhanced network and emphasis on community engagement efforts.”

In November, Sprint announced it was creating four geographic areas - West, Central, Northeast and South – with 18 regional offices in major U.S. markets. The South geographic area covers Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Central Texas.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sprint’s regional headquarters to Arkansas,” said Governor Asa Hutchinson. “Little Rock has a very competitive data and telecommunications industry with many skilled workers to fill Sprint’s needs. These are exactly the type of jobs we need here in Arkansas.”

Jeff Hathaway, Chairman of the Little Rock Regional Chamber, said “Today’s exciting announcement from Sprint is clear evidence of the continued growth of the information and communication industry in the Little Rock region, and is another great result of the well-coordinated economic development efforts of the Chamber, City, and AEDC.”

Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said, “I am incredibly excited that Little Rock continues to grow in the technology and communications field.  The momentum that created the environment for today’s announcement will continue to pay dividends for years to come.  We welcome Sprint’s Regional Headquarters with open arms and are confident they will find success here in Little Rock.”
