Mar 21, 2014

Littelfuse, Inc. announced the opening of a new Technology Center in Mount Prospect, Ill. The 23,500 square-foot facility combines research and development teams from three former Chicago-area locations. It is designed to enhance collaboration and creativity in developing next-generation products for the company’s electronic and automotive customers.

“Littelfuse is no stranger to the Northwest Chicago suburbs and we are very pleased the company chose Mount Prospect. Our transportation and infrastructure resources, skilled workforce and respect for innovation make our community an ideal location for growing, technology-focused companies.”

“Innovation is the foundation of our company and the force behind our industry leadership. The new Technology Center takes our research and development program in Chicago to the next level,” said Gordon Hunter, Chief Executive Officer.

Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of Mount Prospect, said, “Littelfuse is no stranger to the Northwest Chicago suburbs and we are very pleased the company chose Mount Prospect. Our transportation and infrastructure resources, skilled workforce and respect for innovation make our community an ideal location for growing, technology-focused companies.”

The new Technology Center will support the complete innovation life cycle, from new ideas and concepts to product design, prototyping, testing and validation. Products that will be developed in the new center include fuses and sensors for automotive, commercial and electric vehicles, as well as circuit protection devices for smartphones, tablets, laptops, LED lighting and telecommunication equipment.

“We selected the Mount Prospect location because it is close to our employee base, corporate headquarters and O’Hare International Airport, and because it offered the professional environment and amenities we were seeking for this important new facility,” said Ed Earl, Chief Information Officer of Littelfuse and a member of the project’s leadership team. “The Mount Prospect staff and elected officials have been very helpful to work with and we look forward to being a part of the village’s business community.”

Approximately 40 highly skilled engineers will work in the new facility.
