Birmingham stands to benefit the most from recently passed “white collar” economic development incentives, industry experts said.
After years of failed efforts, both houses of the Alabama Legislature approved in May incentives designed to entice corporate headquarters, call centers, renewable energy producers and high-tech firms to the state. That victory provides economic developers a critical tool that levels the competitive playing field with neighboring states, according to Alabama Development Office Assistant Director Linda Swann.
