ThyssenKrupp Receives Grant; Create 100 New Jobs

A $1.5 million grant from the federal government for a water system near the Thyssenkrupp AG steel mill will help create more than 100 new jobs in north Mobile County and could spur almost $200 million in private investment, according to the Economic Development Administration.

Jerry Luker, the engineer for South Alabama Utilities, said the utility secured the grant because the tank would help create jobs at Thyssenkrupp and promote development around the mill.
