Mar 05, 2025

Costco is planning to open seven warehouse stores in the U.S. in March and April. New stores opening in March will be in Brentwood, Calif.; Highland, Calif.; Prosper, Texas; Weatherford, Texas; Genesee County, Mich.; and Sharon, Mass. The seventh U.S. store is scheduled to open in Stuart, Fla., in April.

"We continue to project 29 openings during fiscal year '25, of which three will be relocations and so 26 net new buildings," Costco CEO and President Ron Vachris said in a December 2024 earnings call. "Ten of those warehouses will be outside of the U.S." The retailer currently operates 897 warehouses worldwide.

"We see some great opportunities in Canada and Mexico have been strong countries for us. We continue to see growth opportunities both in Europe and Asia, as well," Vachris said during the December call.

Costco reported net sales for the retail month of January of $19.51 billion, which is a 9.2% increase from last year.

The Issaquah, Wash.-based retailer has posted a string of positive quarterly earnings and began FY 2025 by setting records. Two of the milestones were achieved in pharmacy and deliveries. Costco’s U.S. pharmacy business saw prescription growth exceeding 19% in the first quarter, setting volume records. Costco Logistics also completed nearly 1 million deliveries during the quarter, reports Supermarket News.

Net sales grew by 7.5% year over year, reaching $60.99 billion, and comparable sales in the U.S. were 7.2% higher than in Q1 2024, excluding the effects of gas prices and foreign exchange.
