The Pro’s Closet, a leading seller of pre-owned bikes and components based in Boulder, Colo., has leased an additional 28,000-square-foot facility in Longmont, Colo., to accommodate its rapid growth. While bicycle sales across the industry have been relatively flat for 10 years, The Pro’s Closet has nearly tripled in both sales and employees in the past year, demonstrating overlooked demand for quality used products.
“By offering a wide inventory of professionally certified bikes and a user-friendly buying experience, we’ve removed the intimidation, hassle, and risk of buying used,” said Nick Martin, founder and CEO of The Pro’s Closet. “We’re proud to see how well that’s resonated with the entire bicycling community.”
Founded in 2006, The Pro’s Closet set out to redefine the way people purchase used bikes. According to the National Bicycle Dealers Association, sales of new products have stagnated at around six billion U.S. dollars annually for the past decade. By making it easier to buy and sell used bikes, The Pro’s Closet is injecting new life into the bicycle industry as a whole and providing inventory solutions for retailers and manufacturers.
With outside forces like tariffs and material costs contributing to the increasing price of new bikes, The Pro’s Closet is able to meet customer demand for affordable, quality products by embracing the growing trend toward a circular economy.
“We see this expansion as a decisive move toward the development of our business nationally and perhaps beyond,” says Martin. “The addition of our newest building will allow us to continue refining our lean processes, helping us deliver our high-quality tuning and 141-point inspection to more bicycles.”
This expansion increases the operational footprint of The Pro’s Closet to 52,000 square feet, combined with its Boulder location, tripling its ability to process bikes, components, and bicycling gear.
With its current inventory of more than 800 listed bikes expected to triple with the new expansion, The Pro’s Closet will continue to bring high-quality, pre-loved bikes and gear to bicyclists well into the future.
