Applied Vision Technology Inc. (AVT), an Orlando-based engineering and modeling company, recently secured a $31 million contract to deliver virtual trainers for construction equipment to the U.S. Army.
The company, which employs 98 people, is building a 40,000-square-foot office in Orlando to supplement the firm's existing 15,000-square-foot office, giving the company more space for its workforce. AVT is looking to hire for at least seven positions.
AVT is Central Florida’s second-biggest modeling, simulation and training firm, with $18.5 million in revenue in 2018.
Military contracts contribute to the local economy in the form of jobs and subcontractor opportunities. The region snags about $4 billion in government contracts each year. The nation’s Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines simulation operations are based in Central Florida Research Park. That work helps make Orlando the modeling, simulation and training capital of the world.
