FL: Prescription Drug Wholesaler MedShorts Expands in Downtown Orlando

Sep 11, 2020
Prescription drug wholesaler MedShorts LLC plans to move its headquarters to downtown Orlando, Fla. The Altamonte Springs-based is leasing a 6,218-square-foot office with room for 30 employees. The firm currently has 13 workers, MedShorts COO Blake Powers told the Orlando Business Journal.

MedShorts sells surplus soon-to-expire pharmaceutical drugs at discounts and works with hospitals and other health care institutions across the U.S. Typically, drugs that near expiration dates are destroyed, reports OBJ.

MedShorts has outgrown its 2,200-square-foot office in Altamonte Springs as it has added new employees in recent months. Downtown Orlando is more centrally located for employees and it's closer to the Orange County Convention Center; Powers said it was time-consuming to have clients fly in for conferences and then drive to Altamonte Springs to meet, reports OBJ.

Plus, downtown Orlando has many growing tech firms, which MedShorts valued when looking for office space. The company plans to move downtown later this year. "We wanted to be closer to the action," Powers said.
