Gov. Nathan Deal announced today that Electrolux, one of the world’s largest appliance manufacturers, will locate an expanded customer care center in Augusta. The company will create 225 new jobs by the end of 2013. A $2.5 million investment will renovate to an existing facility.
“Customer care operations thrive in Georgia, stemming from our business-friendly environment, top-ranked workforce and Southern hospitality, which are all benefits to companies seeking to better serve their customers,” said Deal. “This project is a great example of how Georgia’s competitive assets for companies such as Electrolux yield economic gains for our state and the people of the Augusta community.”
The Electrolux North American major appliances Customer Care Center will provide support to the company’s consumers, dealers and services. After renovations, the facility will be operational by fall 2011.
“This new facility will be home to our enhanced and expanded call center and customer care operations,” said Greg Bagwell, Electrolux Major Appliances, North America VP, Consumer Services Group Operations. “The Augusta center is a vital part of our ambition to be the premier provider of positive support for customers in the industry.”
The Augusta region is a strategic location for customer care center locations due in part to the community’s pipeline of talent for these operations. The Electrolux Customer Care Center will locate in a space formerly occupied by Dillard’s department store in the National Hills Shopping Center on Washington Road.
“Electrolux made its decision to create new jobs and investment in Augusta-Richmond County, based in part on the knowledge that they are investing in a pro-business community,” said Walter Sprouse, Executive Director of the Development Authority of Richmond County. “Augusta has received more than 20 national recognitions for the local economy during the past 18 months. Electrolux wanted to be part of this strong Augusta economic wave. This is more excellent news for our local economy.”
Georgia Department of Economic Development senior project manager, Adela Kelley, assisted the company with this location in collaboration with the Economic Development Authority of Richmond County.
