Jerome Cheese Company, a division of Davisco Foods International, Inc., has announced they are adding the capability to produce Pasta Filata Mozzarella at their production factory in Jerome, Idaho. The 320,000 square foot manufacturing facility that currently produces 520,000 pounds of American type cheese per day will have the capability to produce Pasta Filata Mozzarella.

Troy Ammann, Director of Cheese Operations for Davisco Foods said, “Our focus is to provide solutions for our West Coast customers by supplying mozzarella from the Idaho location. We’ve positioned ourselves to add the mozzarella production in Jerome after realizing the overwhelming demand from these customers. Not only will we better serve our customers in the western US but the Idaho location will provide better access to our international customers that we ship to from western ports. We have the milk from our Dairymen, the technical support internally and we expect to create up to 20 new jobs as a result of the expansion.”

Jon Davis, Davisco’s Chief Operations Officer, said, “Our customers have been very insistent that they would like the option of another high quality west coast supplier of Mozzarella. This expansion satisfies those requests, while allowing us to continue our philosophy of investing in the flexibility to react to the demand of the marketplace. This flexibility will allow us to maximize the utilization of our Idaho Milk Producers high quality milk while ensuring we capture the most value from that milk.”

Davisco expects this addition to be commissioned and operational early next summer.
