IN: Logistics firm to Launch Operations; Create 250 New Jobs; Invest $10.8M

May 09, 2010

s2f worldwide, LLC, a startup provider of supply chain and logistics services, announced that it will establish its headquarters and distribution operations here, creating 250 new jobs by 2013.

The company, which offers a range of transportation management, warehousing and distribution services, will invest $10.8 million to lease and equip a 200,000 square-foot distribution center and office building near the Indianapolis International Airport. s2f, a Minority Business Enterprise, will serve customers in the automotive, life sciences, telecommunications and retail markets, among others.

"There is no location more accessible or more convenient for logistics operations than Indiana," said Governor Mitch Daniels. "Plainfield continues to be among the top choices anywhere for businesses like s2f to grow and expand."

s2f plans to begin hiring supervisory and warehouse associates in April in preparation for the anticipated commencement of operations in the second quarter of 2010.

"Plainfield's infrastructure makes it an ideal location for s2f. We look forward to bringing jobs to our state and becoming an engaged community partner," said Randall J. Lewis, president of s2f worldwide.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered s2f worldwide, LLC up to $2 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $45,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. The town of Plainfield will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership.

"We are gratified that s2f Worldwide has chosen Plainfield to locate its new distribution facility," said Robin G. Brandgard, president of the Plainfield Town Council. "The new jobs and investment that s2f brings to our community is confirmation that our investment in infrastructure and our outstanding location continue to make Plainfield a premier location for new or expanding businesses.

s2f's decision to locate in Plainfield adds to Indiana's expanding transportation and logistics industry. With more than 11,000 miles of highway, 4,700 miles of mainline rail track and the only fully-funded, 10-year road improvement program in the country, Indiana is one of the nation's top transportation hubs.  Each year, more than 720 million tons of freight travel through Indiana, making it the fifth busiest state for commercial freight traffic in the nation.
