Genesis Plastics Welding, a provider of contract plastics welding and manufacturing services, announced recently that it will expand its operations here, creating up to 54 new jobs by 2014.

The company, which serves OEMs in the medical, military, automotive and consumer products sectors, plans to invest more than $3.3 million to add 50,000 square feet of production space at its existing facility at 720 East Broadway in Fortville. Construction also will include a new ISO Class 7 Standard certified medical clean room.

"Indiana's low cost tax climate allows companies like Genesis Plastics to continue to grow and create new opportunities for workers in Central Indiana," said Mitch Roob, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Genesis is currently accepting applications for production workers and plant supervisors. Visit www.GenesisPlasticsWelding.com for contact information. Construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2011.

"Genesis Plastics Welding has been headquartered in Indiana for nearly 25 years," said Tom Ryder, the company's president and chief executive officer. "We have continually invested in our employees, technology, equipment and facilities to maintain our competitive edge in the global marketplace. Indiana has always been a significant contributor to our success. Through the years we have benefited from the state's affordable and talented workforce, pro-business policies and central geographic location."

Founded in 1987, Genesis attributes its recent growth to increasing demand for its proprietary plastics welding technology, ecoGenesisT, which enables radio frequency welding of plastic materials previously considered difficult or impossible to heat seal without the addition of often toxic adhesives or plasticizers. The company manufactures products including helmet padding, blood pressure cuffs, inflatable fluid bladders, hot and cold therapy packs, compression therapy sleeves, medical instrument covers, disposable heating blankets and drainage bags.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Genesis Plastics Welding up to $340,000 in performance-based tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. The town of Fortville will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the Hancock Economic Development Council.

"The Town Council on behalf of the Fortville community is proud to assist in the growth of our corporate neighbor, Genesis," said Ron Stafford, Fortville Town Council president.

Genesis Plastics Welding's announced expansion comes just more than three weeks after aerospace engineering firm Aero Engine Controls announced its plans to plans to make capital investments as it expands its existing capabilities at its operations near the Indianapolis International Airport, creating up to 159 new jobs by 2013.

About Genesis Plastics Welding
Genesis Plastics Welding is one of the industry's leading contract manufacturing companies that specializes in radio frequency (RF) plastics welding of thermoplastic products and components for industries including medical, military, automotive, marine and consumer products. Unique to the plastics welding industry, Genesis' proprietary heat sealing technology allows RF plastics welding of polyethylene, polypropylene and nearly any low-loss polymer in film, foam and fabric layers. The technology is an ideal replacement for Polyvinylchloride (PVC) and Polyurethane with "green" phthalate-free plastics as it causes polymers with low dielectric loss factors to respond to RF plastics welding just like PVC. The company's plastics welding technology, ecoGenesis, also aids in cost reduction as it eliminates the need for expensive heat seal additives and enables the substitution of lower cost raw materials. Available for private licensing to manufacturers, ecoGenesis can be quickly integrated into any existing RF heat sealing machine.
