The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce was selected as an International Economic Development Council Excellence in Economic Development Bronze Award recipient. The award was presented to Ron Bunch, President and CEO, during the 2013 International Economic Development Council (IEDC) Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
"How we paint the picture of South Central Kentucky is a crucial part of the work that our economic development partnership does to continue to grow the business climate in the region," stated Bunch. "We have seen four major announcements that have brought a total of $226 million in capital investment and 317 new jobs to our region in 2013 alone. Our marketing efforts are an important part of this success and to be recognized for them on an international level is truly an honor."
The IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards are presented annually to recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year's most influential leaders.
"The Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce as being one of the leading organizations in the industry for innovation, creativity and successful strategies," said IEDC chair, Paul Krutko. "These awards are meant to honor the organizations and individuals who are dedicated to making a positive change in their communities. This organization uses creative solutions and inventive ideas, and offers other regions a wonderful example to learn and benefit from. The award represents an acknowledgment and appreciation for Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce's dedication to continuous growth within itself, as well as improving the industry overall."
The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce was acknowledged for their "Business Grows Here" general purpose brochure that highlights the advantages of doing business in South Central Kentucky.
"By focusing our marketing efforts on our ten-county region, we open the door to a whole new pool of benefits that are attractive to companies looking to grow," said Bunch. "The brochure is just another example of how the collaboration within our economic development partnership with the surrounding counties continues to bring success to South Central Kentucky"
The Bronze Award is the third award the Chamber has received in 2013 for their marketing efforts.
Earlier this year, the Southern Economic Development Council presented the Chamber with a Communication Award of Excellence for the same brochure.
The American Chamber of Commerce Executives honored the Chamber with an Award of Excellence for their "The Leader in Me" education program website developed by Chamber partner Hitcents.
This award is presented to organizations that exhibit outstanding communication efforts at the annual convention.
"The Bowling Green area has seen exponential economic growth this year," stated Chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors, Brad Howard. "The continued success of the area can be attributed to the hard work of our economic development partnership. Receiving awards such as the IEDC Bronze award shows us that we are on a level to be competitive internationally with other economic development programs."
