Gov. Steve Beshear recently joined community leaders and executives of Custom Data Processing (CDP) to announce the expansion of the company’s Frankfort facility. The software development company will add 18 new jobs and invest more than $400,000 as a result of the expansion.

“I congratulate Custom Data Processing and am pleased the Commonwealth was able to assist in making this expansion possible,” said Gov. Beshear. “This investment will mean new employment opportunities for the Franklin County area and reaffirms Custom Data Processing’s commitment to our community.”

Custom Data Processing, established in 1979, specializes in the field of public health, developing and operating management information systems specifically designed to meet the needs of public health programs. To accommodate the company’s growth, CDP will add approximately 4,000 square feet to its existing 10,000 square-foot data processing software facility, located at 951 Chenault Road. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

“Expanding our operations in Kentucky is an exciting development for CDP. Our leading edge technologies for Public Health and WIC are attracting new clients across the nation. To accommodate this growth, we plan to add new talent to our existing team of dedicated and skilled employees,” said Stan Cochran, CEO of CDP Inc. “We know Kentucky is a great place to recruit and hire, thus our decision is to expand here. We thank Governor Beshear, the Economic Development Cabinet and the Kentucky Capital Development Corporation for their support and encouragement. And we especially thank the public health community in Kentucky for their long-standing cooperation and support.”

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved Custom Data Processing for tax incentives up to $200,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive will allow Custom Data Processing to keep a portion of its investment over a five-year period through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

“This would be an exciting announcement for Franklin County any time, but especially during these tough economic times,” said Sen. Julian M. Carroll of Frankfort. “This investment in Custom Data Processing is an investment in economic development for our community. These additional jobs will provide new opportunities for our workforce.”

“I’m really pleased to see the state once again invest in our community, and want to thank Custom Data Processing for doing the same,” said Rep. Derrick Graham of Frankfort. “I was proud to support the incentive program helping to make this possible. Examples like this are proof that the program is playing a key role in moving our economy forward and generating much-needed jobs.”

“Franklin County has had a long history with CDP. Their relationship with agencies such as Kentucky Home Health and the Franklin County Health Department has grown from the pilot programs of the early 1980s. The programs, as well as the maintenance and service, has always been of the highest quality,” said Franklin County Judge Executive Ted Collins. “Information technology has added to the complexity of health agencies and CDP has been there to assist them with all the issues and concerns that technology brings. Franklin County government recognizes and appreciates CDP’s contribution to our health agencies and the people they serve and celebrates with them in their plans for expansion.”

“With a $400,000 expansion investment and the creation of new jobs, Custom Data Processing Inc. has demonstrated their commitment to growth in our community,” added Frankfort Mayor Gippy Graham. “We heartily endorse Custom Data and extend our appreciation for their contributions to Frankfort’s economic growth.”
