Governor Steve Beshear recently joined community leaders and officials from Pella Corporation to announce the company will expand its Murray operations, located at 307 Pella Way. The expansion will create 75 new jobs for the community.
“The growth of our existing industries is vital to moving Kentucky’s economy forward,” said Gov. Beshear. “The fact that Pella is further enhancing its Kentucky footprint, adding 75 new jobs, demonstrates that we have a positive business climate, excellent workforce and great partnerships between state and local government and the private sector that allows companies like Pella to succeed.”
Pella Corporation is a leader in designing, testing, manufacturing and installing quality windows and doors for new construction and renovation projects. The company expects to have added a total of 75 new people to its workforce by June of this year. A strong demand for the company’s energy-efficient Pella® 350 Series vinyl products is driving the expansion.
“As demand for energy-efficient vinyl windows and patio doors produced in Murray grows, we look forward to expanding our workforce to manufacture energy-efficient vinyl products to meet the needs of homes across North America,” said Doug Dieleman, plant manager of Pella Corporation.
Individuals interested in applying for the new manufacturing positions, which include a comprehensive wage and benefits package including medical and dental insurance and paid vacation, may apply at www.Pella.com/careers.
“We are pleased that Pella recognizes the dedicated work ethic of our community as we work together to improve the quality of life in Murray,” said Sen. Ken Winters, of Murray.
“This announcement is symbolic of the cooperation between our local economic development corporation, Gov. Beshear and the Cabinet for Economic Development,” added Rep. Melvin Henley, of Murray. “It’s another indication of all the success we have already seen in working together to obtain jobs for Murray and Calloway County.”
“Pella, like many of our other companies, has managed to do well even in a very bad economy,” said Murray Mayor Bill Wells. “We are delighted to see that they are hiring people and we feel comfortable that as the economy begins to rebound there will be many more job opportunities for our hard working families.”
“We have truly been blessed in Calloway County and have managed to keep one of the lowest unemployment rates in the Commonwealth,” said Calloway County Judge-Executive Larry Elkins. “This is because we have great companies like Pella that recognize the tremendous work ethic of our citizens. Although we still have too many unemployed, we will continue to work with both our companies and Governor Beshear to ensure that there are good job opportunities with a living wage for people who want to live in Calloway County.”
