Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear announced that Infinity Design & Construction, a provider of 3D scanning, 3D design and construction services, will expand its presence in Kentucky with the addition of a second, Floyd County facility, creating 36 high-wage jobs with a $1.75 million investment.
“Infinity is a great example of a company fully committed to serving its community and the commonwealth,” said Gov. Beshear. “Kentucky is experiencing a period of economic development growth because companies like Infinity continue to believe in our workforce and resources. I want to thank the company’s leadership and am excited to see this expansion into Floyd County bring even greater success.”
The company’s current fabrication shop in LaGrange, Kentucky, is operating at full capacity. To sustain and accelerate its growth, Infinity plans to expand operations by opening a new location on 7.5 acres in Langley. The new facility is approximately 43,850 square feet and will allow for increased production.
“Infinity Design & Construction Group has had the privilege of working closely with LU 248 Business Manager Ben Collier over the past two years, achieving significant success together. We extend our sincere gratitude to Kentucky State Representative Ashley Tackett Laferty and her team, Bob Burgess and Brett Traver with Southeast Kentucky Economic Development, Colby Kirk with One East Kentucky, Amanda Clark with Kentucky Power, Floyd County Judge Executive Robbie Williams and Kristina Slattery and Brittney Petty with the Department for Business Development at the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, for their unwavering support. Throughout this collaboration, we have been continually impressed by the exceptional work ethic of the Eastern Kentucky workforce. Given the growth in our pipe fabrication segment, expanding into Eastern Kentucky is a natural progression for our team, and we are excited about broadening our operations in this region,” said Infinity Executive Keith McKinney. “At the same time, Infinity remains committed to the Louisville market. We recently completed work at the Ford Blue Oval project under Local 502 and are eager to continue growing our presence in the area. We are actively exploring opportunities to expand our footprint in Louisville, including the acquisition of new properties to support this growth.”
Infinity Design & Construction Group was founded in July 2013. The owners bring over 75 years of combined experience in the commercial and industrial piping industry. Infinity is signatory to the Plumbers, Pipefitters and Service Technicians Local 502 with its vice president actively involved with over 24 years of experience in Local 452. The company offers a range of services, including 3D scanning, 3D design, construction services, pipe fabrication, process piping installation, plumbing services and HVAC projects.
Representative Ashley Tackett Laferty spoke on the region as a whole: “I am very excited to welcome Infinity Design & Construction Group to Floyd County. This project is set to create high-quality jobs, (with wages of $41.50 per hour plus unionized healthcare and pension benefits), for the hardworking women and men in my district. Here in Eastern Kentucky, our people have always been our top resource. The decline in the coal industry, however, has meant many of our highly trained workers are being forced to look elsewhere for comparable employment. I was committed to help bring this company’s new location to the mountains because I am confident that its success can and will show others throughout the commonwealth that Eastern Kentucky is the place for their next big success story.”
Ben Colier, business manager of UA Local 248, spoke on the workforce in Eastern Kentucky: “We are excited to see Infinity Design & Construction Group set to open their new manufacturing/piping fabrication facility in our Eastern Kentucky region, more specifically in Floyd County, which is close to the center of our 24-county jurisdiction. For too many years we have been on the importing end of piping spools to be installed at facilities throughout our jurisdiction. This monumental investment from Infinity Design & Construction Group will now allow UA Local 248 members to weld spools that will be installed at facilities of our local clientele, as well as be exported to other regions of our Nation from right here in Eastern Kentucky. For decades we have partnered with KCTCS, KWI and Hobart welding schools to take apprentices who have graduated their programs with all the welding skills necessary to make this type of partnership successful. We welcome and are thankful for Infinity DCG’s investments and their willingness to pay their employees a livable wage, along with health care and pension benefits.”
