Florida-based grocer Publix Super Markets recently signed a lease for a new supermarket to be built in Covington, Ky., the chain's first location in northern Kentucky and sixth overall in the state. Located in the Triple Crown Shopping Center, the site is expected to open in 2025 and will feature an adjacent Public Liquors store.
It will be the chain's first store in northern Kentucky and Publix's northernmost location, and is located in the greater Cincinnati market area. Publix has recently added new locations in Kentucky, which is the chain's eight state.
The company also has plans for three stores in Louisville and two in Lexington. this past summer, Publix launched a "Hello, Kentucky" website to keep residents informed of upcoming store openings.
Overall, Publix now operates 1,355 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
