A second Hannaford Supermarket recently opened in Scarborough, Maine. The 58,000-square-foot store will employ nearly 140 full- and part-time associates, according to the company. Headquartered in Scarborough, the supermarket chain operates 187 stores in New England and New York, including 66 locations in Maine.
The store will emphasize convenience for customers, including grab-and-go meals, a hot-and-cold foods bar, grocery pickup, and delivery, a full-service pharmacy, and nearly 20 self-checkout registers.
To celebrate the grand opening, Hannaford will make $10,000 in donations to the Scarborough Food Pantry and the South Portland Food Cupboard. The supermarket also will offer a variety of special giveaways throughout October, including the opportunity to win a $1,000 Hannaford gift card.
