Watsontown Trucking Company, a subsidiary of the Patton Logistics Group in Pa., is opening a new trucking operations center in Washington County.
The company, which has been in business for more than 80 years, will be located on 16 acres of land along Breeze Hill Drive in Hagerstown. This ideal position will give Watsontown Trucking convenient access to some of Maryland’s major interstates, including I-70 and I-81, allowing the business to expand its service area and reach its Mid Atlantic customers with ease.
With this move into Maryland, Watsontown Trucking anticipates creating 50 to 75 new jobs in the region, with the potential for more in the future.
"We are excited to expand our operations into Hagerstown and offer our customers improved service with faster transit times," said Watsontown Trucking Company President Steve Patton. "With our new location, we’ll provide more jobs and opportunities for people in the area while strengthening our presence in the region."
According to Transport Dive – an in-depth publication that focuses on the trucking industry – construction is expected to begin in June, with the center being fully-operational by early next year. Watsontown Trucking is currently hiring for its Hagerstown operation, which will be the company’s first terminal located in Maryland.
