Three Israel-based companies opened offices in Maryland last year, according to the Maryland/Israel Development Center (MIDC).
The international businesses now calling Maryland home include Agrint , a developer of smart sensors that detect tree attacking pests; IDenta Corp. , a manufacturer of on-the-spot test kits used to identify explosives, drugs, and more; and OpenDNA , a provider of a medical artificial intelligence platform to predict and treat diseases. Each of these innovators selected Montgomery County for their entrance into Maryland.
In addition to gaining three new global companies, a few of Maryland’s existing companies with Israel ties expanded over the last year.
RADA USA, an aerospace and defense company that relocated its headquarters to Maryland in 2019, officially expanded for the second time in four years and later merged with Leonardo DRS . And Advanced Defense Technologies, Inc., a contract manufacturer focused on assembling military and civilian electronics, tripled its size with a new manufacturing facility in Baltimore County.
“The Maryland/Israel Development Center is proud of these remarkable achievements in furthering economic development in Maryland and are grateful for the support of our partners at the Maryland Department of Commerce,” said David Speer, executive director of MIDC.
Maryland is known as a great place to live, work, and play—but it is also the ideal state for foreign-based companies. We’re in the center of a booming commercial corridor, where global businesses capitalize on our next-door proximity to the nation’s capital.
