MS: Delta Furniture Company Expanding Operations in Pontotoc; Project to Create 50 New Jobs

Nov 22, 2010

Officials from Delta Furniture Company, manufacturer of upholstered living room furniture, have announced the company is expanding its operations in Pontotoc, Miss., to accommodate an increase in production. The company will relocate from its current 100,000-square-foot facility into an existing 220,000-square-foot city-owned facility, also located in Pontotoc. Through this expansion, the company will create at least 50 new full-time jobs and invest more than $590,000 over the next three years.

“Delta Furniture is a relatively new company founded in Mississippi. I am thrilled it is expanding so quickly and creating additional jobs in Pontotoc,” said Gray Swoope, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). “The company is a great testament to the state’s business climate, which is conducive to growth. I am pleased we were able to work with Delta Furniture to help the company grow its business here.”

MDA worked with company and local officials to help facilitate the project, providing funding for public building improvements. The City of Pontotoc is providing funding for public infrastructure improvements, as well.

“This expansion will allow Delta Furniture to meet the demands of our growing customer base,” said Wesley Walls, co-founder and president of Delta Furniture. “We appreciate the innovative action from Three Rivers Planning and Development District, the City of Pontotoc and Mississippi Development Authority which made this project possible.”

Delta Furniture Company was founded in 2009 in Pontotoc, and the company has since grown to more than 50 employees.  Terry Wages, who co-founded the company with Walls, serves as President of Manufacturing for Delta Furniture.
