MS: Madison House Locating Furniture Manufacturing Operations in Amory, Creating 65 New Jobs in Addition to 20 in Place

Oct 20, 2010

Officials from Madison House LLC, a start-up upholstered furniture company, announced today that the company is locating manufacturing operations in Amory, Miss. The project will create a total of 85 jobs by the end of the company’s second full year of operation. Twenty of those jobs are already in place.

Madison House recently began production in the former Pullman Couch/Block building in Amory. The company will produce mid-priced stationary furniture, including sofas, loveseats, chairs, ottomans and sectionals.

Madison House is a division of Townhouse Home Furnishings and will allow Townhouse to expand its upholstered furniture manufacturing business.

“It is always great to see our existing manufacturers expand, but I am especially pleased when businesses in our furniture industry announce they are expanding their operations,” said Gray Swoope, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). “I appreciate Townhouse Home Furnishings’ commitment to expand its operations with the new division in Amory and create 85 new jobs for area residents.  We are pleased we could help Townhouse with this project and applaud the company for continuing to invest in Mississippi.”

“The Madison House line has been well received at the furniture markets, and we look forward to substantial growth for our new division,” said Tony Watson, chief financial officer of Townhouse Home Furnishings.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) worked with company and local officials to help with this project and provided funding to assist with public building improvements. The City of Amory, the Monroe County Board of Supervisors, the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and Three Rivers Planning and Development District also provided assistance for this project.

Townhouse Home Furnishings was founded in 2002 by Jeremy Lafayette in a garage with only five workers. Since then, the company has grown to 120 employees and is now located in three buildings with manufacturing space totaling 170,000 square feet.
