Perry's Ice Cream in the Village of Akron, N.Y., has completed an $18 million expansion of its existing manufacturing facility to expand production capacity. The expansion will create 15 new jobs at the location.
The new 20,000-square-foot building is adjacent to its existing manufacturing facility and will house new state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. The expansion will also allow Perry's to increase its R&D capabilities.
“This investment and associated expansion begins another chapter in Perry’s long NY history. The new, state-of-the-art equipment expands our manufacturing capabilities and ensures that we continue to adapt and grow to meet customer and consumer needs with innovative and exciting products. We appreciate the support from Empire State Development and are thrilled to contribute to the economic health of our region,” Robert Denning, president & CEO of Perry’s Ice Cream said.
The new manufacturing line will help create Perry's conventional ice cream-based options, in addition to sorbet, yogurt, non-dairy varieties and more. The $18 million project included the addition of a building to house the new extruded ice cream novelty machine and conveyor systems, as well as renovations of another 2,875 square feet of space, and upgrades to the site’s engine room and pump room. The expansion will also allow Perry's to increase their R&D capabilities.
“Congratulations to Perry’s Ice Cream on completing a project that will help ensure a steady supply of sweet treats for all its customers. The expansion is a win for the region; adding jobs, a new line to produce more ice cream products, and supporting the local dairy farmers who supply the milk to the factory,” Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Hope Knight said.
