Gov. John R. Kasich and JobsOhio President and Chief Investment Officer Mark Kvamme recently announced that Purfoods will locate a new production and distribution facility in North Jackson (Mahoning Co.) creating 100 full-time jobs and generating $2.2 million in new annual payroll.
A 45-percent, 5-year tax credit worth $102,085 approved today by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority was a key component of the company’s decision to locate in Ohio. Several Southern states were also aggressively pursuing the company but the Job Retention Tax Credit allowed Ohio to be competitive.
“It’s exciting to see job creators embracing Ohio’s efforts to create a climate where they can grow and succeed,” said Gov. John R. Kasich. “We’ve stabilized Ohio’s finances, are streamlining regulation, have reduced taxes and have given job creators a competent partner like JobsOhio that understands their needs. All of this is helping create the jobs-friendly environment we need so that Ohioans can get back to work. It’s exciting to see it all happening.”
Purfoods will make $1.4 million investment in Ohio, and as part of the tax credit agreement, the state requires the company to maintain operations in Ohio for at least eight years. Purfoods has also committed to hiring at least 10 percent disadvantaged and/or minority employees as defined by the Ohio Administrative Code.
Purfoods is a fresh meal delivery company that produces packaged meals and provides food delivery services in the U.S. The company was founded in 1999 and is based in Ankeny, Iowa. Purfoods plans to renovate an existing facility to meet increased needs for production and distribution.
