Local production of “recycling-ready” Greenleaf ™ web officially launched recently at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Brampton, Ontario, marking a significant milestone for Albéa Tubes. The company has officially started producing its Greenleaf™ plastic laminate web following over a year of preparation to install a new state-of-the-art blown film line and train the teams in the new technology.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony in Brampton marked the beginning of a new era for the tube manufacturing industry in North America and emphasized Albéa’s role in contributing to a circular economy by supplying brands with recyclable HDPE tubes.
The event brought together Albéa’s management team along with other stakeholders including Albea’s clients, employees, and local and provincial officials.
For Bruno de Carvalho, VP & General Manager Albéa Tubes America, Brampton is now “a game-changer in offering sustainable solutions made in North America supporting customers in the transition from common aluminum foil containing tubes to all-plastic laminate GreenleafTM tubes for such products as toothpaste, personal care items, cosmetics and pharma markets.”
But this project is also a commitment to the employees and the community of Brampton by ensuring business in the long term. In his speech, he emphasized the team's hard work and dedication throughout the project.
Plant Manager Jerzy Debski also gave a welcoming speech:
“This project was and is about your needs and our commitment to support a circular economy for plastics use”, Mr. Debski addressed the customers. “Our new line adheres to international standards, ensuring the best quality products and meeting our customers’ demanding requirements”, he added.
The Brampton facility, established in 2000, specializes in extrusion lamination of multi-layer web for aluminum-barrier laminate (ABL) tubes for Personal care and Cosmetics, Oral Care, Pharma, Industrial and Food.
Albéa's GreenleafTM tubes are recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and RecyClass as recycling-ready in the HDPE stream where collection and recycling are available.
