Nike has signed a lease for a massive for a facility in Bethlehem, Pa., that's expected to support its e-commerce fulfillment on the East Coast. The 1,041,600-square-foot building is in the Majestic Bethlehem Center in.
According to the Bethlehem Morning Call newspaper, Nike was drawn to the Lehigh Valley area’s proximity to New York City.
News of the lease came from an industrial market report from Lee & Associates. Bethlehem Mayor Robert Donchez told The Morning Call that Nike is aiming for a mid-summer opening and the distribution center will support “in the ballpark of 250 jobs with possible growth in the future.”
Nike reportedly has seven significant distribution centers in the U.S. Four are in Memphis, TN, two of which are owned and two of which are leased. Two other distribution centers, one located in Indianapolis, IN, and one located in Dayton, TN, are leased and operated by third-party logistics providers. One distribution center for Converse is located in Ontario, CA, which is leased. There are other smaller distribution facilities located in various parts of the United States, some of which are leased or operated by third-parties.
