Pennsylvania Infrastructure Receives Infusion of $54.7 Million in State Funding

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf today announced 106 new project approvals through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF). The projects will improve Pennsylvania’s transportation infrastructure and ensure safer, more reliable transportation for residents and businesses. The projects total $54.7 million in funding.

 

“Infrastructure is one of the most crucial components of Pennsylvania’s economic well-being,” Governor Wolf said. “We can’t have a robust economy without modern-day infrastructure. These projects will improve residents’ quality of life and boost Pennsylvania businesses and communities.”

 

The MTF was established by Act 89 of 2013 to ensure the availability of safe and reliable transportation access in communities throughout the commonwealth. The program funds several types of improvement projects, including roads, walking and bike trails, rail, traffic safety, public transportation, and air transport. With nearly $500 billion in goods and services moving through Pennsylvania every year, modern and dependable infrastructure is vital for promoting economic development across the commonwealth while also improving conditions for residents and visitors.

 

The 106 MTF projects approved today are located in 40 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Berks, Bradford, Bucks, Butler, Cambria, Centre, Chester, Clarion, Clearfield, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Elk, Erie, Franklin, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Mercer, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Union, Venango, Westmoreland, Wyoming, and York.
