BJ’s Wholesale Club recently submitted plans to open a location in Forney, Texas, a city which has been getting attention from another warehouse retailer, Costco. BJ's submitted plans for a more than 100,000-square-foot store to Forney's planning and zoning commission. The location would include a fuel pump area and a tire center. The City Council is expected around October to review the plans, according to The Dallas Morning News.
BJ’s, a Massachusetts-based company, has signaled it wants stores in other parts of the Dallas area. BJ’s filed for a permit in Fort Worth to build a store in southern Tarrant County, which would be about 3 miles south of a Costco, the paper reported.
Costco, which has more than a dozen locations throughout DFW, is looking at Forney. In July, the city council authorized municipal officials “to negotiate and execute an agreement with the retailer."
